Facial Wrinkles – A Fact of Life

Regardless of age, facial wrinkles are a fact of life but… we can reduce many wrinkles with various treatments. Botox can be used to reduce the contractions of the muscles that cause facial lines and dermal fillers can be injected to plump up the skin that has lost fullness.

Botox

Botox is a very popular treatment for certain types of facial wrinkles, particularly frown lines. My experience with Botox dates back to 1999 – so I have quite a bit of history with this procedure. However, I won’t attempt to duplicate here on my web site the vast amount of information available. Since Botox is produced by only 1 company, Allergan, my suggestion to everyone is to spend some time at the Botox-Cosmetic web site. You will find plenty of information including lots of before and after photographs.

Pricing for Botox has turned into a bewildering array of coupons, promotions and gimmicks that seem to only confuse the customer. Furthermore, if you have not had Botox before, then you probably won’t be able to figure out just what your true price will be for the results you want. I have found that the best way to price Botox is by the “unit” and ultimately you have to rely on the practitioner to not only tell you how many units you need but also inject them properly. This is where the value of experience becomes very important. I can’t tell you by phone or email how many “units” you need – that requires a face-to-face consultation.

Dermal Fillers – Radiesse

The generic term “dermal fillers” refers to a line of pharmaceutical products that can be injected to “plump up” the skin. While Botox works on nerves that cause some wrinkles, dermal fillers add volume to an area of skin – for example, fuller lips or easing the deep creases around the mouth.

I prefer the 2 dermal fillers with a good, proven track record of results: Restylane and Radiesse. Both companies have extensive web sites with lots of information and before/after photographs. I recommend that everyone spend some time at their sites prior to treatment.

Pricing for dermal fillers is “by syringe” – which to most folks means very little. However, as a starting point, plan on 1 syringe and we can discuss your specific needs during our face-to-face consultation.
